Executive Function Coaching at Successful Learning involves helping students to learn skills and become more independent in the areas of: attention, time management, planning & prioritizing, organization, task initiation, working memory, self-regulation, and flexibility. We use methods and strategies based on the work of leaders in the field of speech pathology, psychology and education.
Varied methods of writing instruction are used, depending on the professional's background and experience, and may include aspects of EmPOWER™ and Brain Frames. Students will learn how to successfully complete all types of written tasks, from narratives and persuasive essays to Long Essay Questions and DBQs.
Strategies such as self-made graphic organizers, thinking aloud, visualizing, and sketch and speak are some of the techniques used to help students better understand what they are reading.
Tutoring in math is available for students in grades 6-12, addressing everything from basic math facts and word problems to Algebra I and II, Trigonometry, and Geometry. Math tutoring is available in the summer only.
